Les Contes d’Hoffmann in Athens
Time and space disintegrate – Krzysztof Warlikowski directs Les Contes d'Hoffmann at the Greek National Opera in an international co-production with La Monnaie in Brussels. The premiere is on 18 December. The star soprano Nicole Chevalier takes on the leading female roles, the British tenor shooting star Adam Smith sings Hoffmann.

Five More Years on the Podium
Toronto Symphony Orchestra Extends Gustavo Gimeno's Contract through 2030. The announcement comes as the TSO continues a Centennial season filled with musical milestones, including the recent gala performance with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma, an international tour including a performance at Carnegie Hall, and a return to the TSO’s first home, Massey Hall.

Wieniawski Competition scores with transparency
20-year-old Japanese violinist Hina Maeda recently won the International Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition – now the margin she won by, measured over all three rounds, is also clear. Starting recently, all points awarded by the jury are publicly available on the competition website. Hardly any other music competition is so transparent.

Greek National Opera (GNO)
New “Don Giovanni” production
Mozart’s opera masterpiece Don Giovanni is coming to the Stavros Niarchos Hall of the Greek National Opera at the SNFCC for five performances, from 21 October – directed by John Fulljames and conducted by Ondrej Olos.
